Citizenship

Individuals are eligible to apply for citizenship (naturalization) five years after obtaining Legal Permanent Residency or after three years if married to a U. S. citizen.  Most applicants must pass a test showing knowledge of the English language and of civics and U. S. history.  This requirement sometimes discourages people from applying, but there are available classes and resources that can help you be prepared for the test.  There are exceptions and modifications to the naturalization requirements that are available to those who qualify based on age and years of legal residency and for those individuals with disabilities. Contact us to discuss your eligibility for citizenship.
